5 on Friday - March Addition

A bunch of random things that went on in March:

1)Ryans Bday Party at Gymboree:  Noah LOVED it.. no surprise since he loves any sort of music or dancing.

2.  We had like 1 nice day in march where we got to go to the park... although i am probably the worst playground mommy ever (i am to much of a worrier and i get to nervous so its no fun for me at all). It was nice to get out of the house and to let him play! We found this new "pirate playground" that we will definitely be back to!

3. St Patricks Day - Shocking it was actually a Snow Day this year and the boys didn't get to go to their party at school. BUT the Mullers came over after nap and we made "snow cream"... it didn't taste too bad and they had a great time mixing the snow in the kitchen!

st patricks day 2012, 2013, and 2014!

4. Popcorn Park Zoo:  We went last weekend and the kids had a great time! I think Feeding the Deer and Sheep were their favorite part... we have the season pass so i see many more quick afternoon trips in our future

5. KARATE !!  This is our newest thing... at first i didn't think it would be that big of a deal. But we signed up for 4 free trial classes and i am blown away with how great he is doing and how well run it is.  We have done a couple "parent and me" sports or gymboree type things and its usually a hot mess with me or brian running around after him... BUT this is so organized. There are 3 instructors and its very structured, all about respect and listening and fun! Its about 10 minutes of going around a obstacle course with climbing, rolling, balance beam, trampoline and interactions with the instructors for different kicks, blocks, rolls... then 10 minutes of what i call "circle or matt time"... this is where i was shocked how well he sat and listened and followed along! I thought he would lose interest or get up and run around... he did exactly what was told of him (to the best of his ability for never having seen or done this stuff before) and the instructors would come over and help him learn different poses or even using Nunchucks! He followed along and repeated what he was suppose to.. very proud mommy moment! Then they do 10 more minutes of the obstacle course type stuff but with new obstacles or skills... then they get back on matts for a meditation type thing.. they end with repeating stuff like "be kind, be respectful, be brave, be polite, be smart"... then they get called up one by one to do some skills they learned that day and get to kick a lollipop off a board to take home :-).  we are gonna give it a try for a couple months and see where it goes :-)

  1. I have been hesitant about trying karate with my 4 year old. You convinced me we need to look into it more.
