Boy or Girl?

Brian and i had talked about finding out the sex of our baby prior to being pregnant and we always thought we would wait and see. But after some research and talking about it more we decided we did want to know. We figured it is a surprise either way! We were just surprised a couple months earlier :-)

We were convinced though that our little "squirt" was a girl. Brians family has a history of having girls first. (His mom was first, his sister, his grandma were all girls born first. And his brother, both his uncles, and 2 of his cousins... all had girls first). So on January 6th, 2010 when we went for my ultrasound we must have said "are you sure" about 5 times when they told us "Its a Boy!".

Since then we both feel like we have really been able to bond with him. We were able to focus on boy names, we can say "him and he" and call him by his name. He has become an actual person and not an "it". And although i think we would feel "prepared" either way i do feel better knowing that i dont have to return anything that isnt gender neutral or have to go out and buy some stuff once "it" arrives.

Now we are very much looking forward to meeting our "lil guy"... and like the "pee stick" we have the picture of the ultrasound with a little arrow pointing to you know what on our wall as a reminder :-)

Pregnant!

It was Wednesday September 22, 2010 when i came home from work and just had a "feeling" that i should take a pregnancy test. We had a big weekend of drinking events coming up and i figured i should just make sure. Brian was downstairs on the floor talking on the phone and had no idea what i was doing.  Well.... the little screen popped up "pregnant" and i was shocked!  I ran downstairs, and as Brian describes it "waved the pee stick in his face". He quickly got off the phone and we were both kinda speechless but smiling.  The next day i went to the Dr. It was to soon for anything to come up on an ultrasound but they gave me the blood test. The next day i got the call that confirmed the pregnancy!

The weekend came and we knew we wouldnt be able to hide it and we would  be telling our closest friends. So Saturday, after pretending to drink about 3 mimosas (the most straight orange juice i have ever consumed in such a short period of time) we told Vito and Nikki -->who had my favorite reaction of all time, although not PG enough to be quoted on the blog :-) Sunday came and i pretended to play some beerpong with gingerale at the Giants football game before telling Jon and Kenny. Then that night we asked my parents what they would be doing at the end of May because thats when they would become grandparents! After that we wanted to wait a couple weeks for my next Dr's appt for them to confirm everything via ultrasound and make sure everything was ok. Once that was done we told the rest of our family the big news!

Oh and that "pee stick" sat on the kitchen island for about a week as a reminder that "yes i am pregnant!!"

Welcome!

Hey Everyone!
I have been a fan of these blogs for awhile and we think its a great way for our friends and family to keep up to date on all the happenings with our growing little family! It will act as a little scrapbook/journal for us and i am hoping to be able to keep it updated with not only the big milestones but all the little day-to-day fun as well!  But dont worry i am sure there will be plenty of shutterfly books in my future!
